Future proof your flooring
You’ve just spent the money and got the flooring of your dreams, so making sure it is treated, cleaned and maintained properly will ensure its longevity and high quality.
Dust, dirt, muddy footprints, and everything else that comes with daily life can play havoc with your fancy new flooring. so make it a habit to give your floors some love regularly.
There’s no one-size-fits-all method for taking care of your floors because, let’s face it, each place has its own floor type – be it cozy carpets or snazzy luxury vinyl. Let us help you to keep your floors looking wonderful!
Regular Cleaning for All Types of Flooring
Sweep or Vacuum: Regularly sweep or vacuum your floors to remove loose dirt, dust, and debris. Use a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to avoid scratching the floor’s surface.
Mop Carefully: For hard floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, and vinyl, use a damp (not soaking wet) mop with a floor-specific cleaner. Be sure to wring out excess water and avoid leaving standing water on the floor, as it can damage the surface or cause warping.
Carpet Care: For carpeted areas, vacuum frequently to prevent dirt from settling into the fibres. Consider a carpet cleaner or hire professional services for deep cleaning.
Flooring-Specific Cleaning:
Laminate Floors: Use a laminate floor cleaner, and avoid excessive moisture. Never wax or polish laminate floors, as this can lead to a cloudy appearance. Take a look at the great Quick-Step flooring guide.
Vinyl Floors: Use a vinyl floor cleaner and a soft mop. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemicals that can damage the surface. Read Amtico’s maintenance and cleaning guide.
Carpet Floors: Invest in a good-quality carpet cleaner or hire professional services to deep clean periodically. Spot clean spills and stains promptly using appropriate stain removers. Be sure to clean according to your carpet material. Wool carpets will require a different cleaning method to synthetic materials. Ulster have a comprehensive aftercare and cleaning guide available.
Ways to protect your floors
Welcome Mats: Place high-quality welcome mats at all entrances to prevent dirt and moisture from being tracked inside. Plus a chance to add some fun welcome message, or a bit of fun into a room! See the fun welcome messages you can add with Artsy Doormats or inject some fun with Ruggable mats.
Shoe Removal: Encourage family and guests to remove their shoes at the entrance, or provide a designated area for shoe removal.
Furniture Pads: Use furniture pads under heavy furniture to prevent scratches and dents on hardwood or laminate floors.
Rugs and Runners: Use area rugs or runners in high-traffic areas to protect your floor from wear and tear. We love hardwearing, colourful Roger Oates runners and rugs.
Regular Inspections: Periodically inspect your floor for any damage or wear and address issues promptly to prevent further damage.
Blot Spills: In the case of spills, promptly blot them up with a clean, dry cloth to prevent stains and moisture damage.
Remember that the specific products and cleaning methods you should use may vary depending on the type of flooring you have. Always refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning and maintenance. By taking these steps, you can keep your fancy new floor clean and protected during the autumn season and beyond.

Hi, Do you group Amtico floor under the Laminate category from maintenance perspective?
The only other two categories on this page are Vinyl and Carpet.
If not, do you have a section on the maintenance of Amtico flooring please?
Thanks
