Why choose Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)

You’ve heard about them, and seen some fabulous pictures online, but it’s time to make a decision. When there are so many factors that influence that; where do you begin and why might you choose LVT over any other flooring?

Amtico Flooring

LVT has become really popular over the last few years, and with good reason. Not only does it look great, it comes in a range of colours, realistic wood and stone effect and abstract patterns, but is also extremely durable and water resistant.

So what actually is LVT flooring?
Unlike sheet vinyl, LVT comes in tiles or plank shapes that when laid create an extremely realistic wood, stone or marble effect. You can be creative with the patterns in which you lay it, add borders, design strips and even motifs. It gives you the opportunity to play with colours, textures  and shapes to get the look you desire.

Is it water resistant?

LVT boasts remarkable resistance to water and moisture, making it a perfect solution for spaces susceptible to spills or elevated humidity levels, such as the kitchen or bathroom.

In contrast to hardwood flooring, vinyl remains unaffected by warping, buckling, or the growth of mould and mildew upon exposure to moisture.

Can it be used with underfloor heating?

Yes! The beauty of LVT is that it is naturally warmer and softer underfoot than stone and ceramic tiles so is a popular choice for bathrooms, kitchens and sunrooms. On top of that most LVT floors can be laid over underfloor heating systems for extra warmth.

Additionally, due to the characteristics of luxury vinyl tiles and their production process, it will efficiently transfer heat through the floor, surpassing nearly all other types of floor coverings such as real wood planks, carpet, and even stone tiles. This results in a cosier room and significantly decreased operating expenses as well.

Is it easy to install?

Whilst some suppliers have their own ‘click smart’ range, we know that when installing a luxury product you need experienced, qualified fitters to do the job properly. A lot of attention needs to go into the sub floor, before even laying the LVT.

We are lucky enough to have 3 Amtico accredited fitters in our team, who have been trained to the highest level with plenty of experience behind them. These guys are used to working with these LVT brands day in day out, and can create really beautiful new floors.

Low maintenance

Music to your ears! No-one wants to have to spend time worrying about their brand new, shiny floor and spend hours trying to keep it looking that way. Most LVT floors simply require a sweep and mop to keep it looking like new, unlike natural hard wood floors which, although they look beautiful, require a bit more elbow grease to keep them looking that way.

Long lasting

Another fantastic benefit of LVT is its durability. Both Amtico flooring and Karndean contain at least 5 durable layers, providing the ultimate wear over time. The Amtico Premium Signature range has a 1mm wear layer on top, providing lasting protection, which they commit to with a lifetime warranty.
